This Pro Story
Hi my name is Randy Griffin - I am a lawn cut service operator and sole proprietorship owner of my business-
My main objective is to provide great lawn cut service for the typical lot size client- I am specifically focused on less than half acre properties and adjusted my equipment as necessary to reflect the demands of the typical lawn client- you may live on a crowded street or the houses are relatively close so I use a trailer less system featuring a integrated ramp system which takes less space - maybe your single gate prevents big setup lawn service from reaching the backyard- I use a commercial grade 36 inch wide walk behind so I have that covered
I typically work everyday of the week from 7:45am till 3:00pm- available weekends - please text me anytime - I service most residential properties either as one time or a schedule basis - thank you considering me for the jobs involved
How many years have you been in landscaping business, and what inspired you to get started?
I got started about 4 years ago … it was always a dream to step away from working for a company and instead work for myself. I can provide one time service but prefer subscribed service appointments within a 15/20 mile radius from my residence. I was inspired simply observing small business owners in various fields that have a passion for the work, offering quality work or a quality product and being customer friendly ad well as good communication skills. These are attributes I will strive for. I am highly thankful for Greenpal and love the work and interaction with great customers
How does your work stand out from other lawn service companies in the area?
I treat every yard as if it was my own and expect quality appearance standards on every stop but the key is communicating and always listen to the customer. I also choose my equipment to be unobtrusive as possible while having the ability to fit in more gates than wider lawn machines. I am always a text or call away -text anytime and I’ll get back - I understand that clients simply want quality work, communication and reliability. Again, most lawn service providers utilize a trailer that sometimes creates access issues for them or others. You really don’t want a 35 foot long setup blocking the neighbors driveway on suburban streets, what is more annoying than that in the morning? I instead utilize a unique integrated ramp system on my pickup truck which allows access into hard to access areas such as alleys or busy streets or smaller home communities. The setup allows me to feature a 36 inch commercial walk behind, plus a 21 inch walk-behind (if neede) backpack blower, prograde edger, trimmer and more - This has been absolutely vital on some of my city routes.
What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
It’s important to understand that weekly is very much worth it - your yard will maintain that clean cut look on a regular basis with far less appearance of any possible clippings. Most of my valued clients actually prefer every 10 days or bi weekly (every two weeks) service and that’s ok - however there may be visible cut grass debris in the prime summer months of June, July and Aug. on a bi weekly service - In addition if heavy rain happens it may be delayed further - For this reason I absolutely recommend every 10 days at least in the prime summer months- You have the ability to always change your intervals any time or simply text me and I’ll do it in the app for you. I Do NOT Bag grass clippings. I do not have the space nor the time required of this to be feasible for my routes- To get the best cut quality, discharge is absolutely the way to go. - my John Deere W36R Is noted as a commercial mower known for its great cut quality. As long as the grass is being cut every two weeks or every 10 days during the prime growing season, the grass clippings will be near invisible anyway (Especially during the heat when clippings literally disintegrate) and is actually great nutrients for the lawn. - it’s proven that grass clippings benefit the lawn as long as it’s not excessive and built up - - if your grass is thick and fed from a lawn treatment company then weekly service is often a must - thank you !
What do you like most about the lawn care industry?
I love the work, the quality results of the work involved and also the scheduling challenges and overcoming such instances for example - Scheduling can be a challenge mainly due to rain. Anything heavier than light rain or saturated conditions are typically days off ( mowing in the rain usually doesn’t end up looking as well ) Delays are inevitable but I put communication as a absolute must - I can’t control the weather but I can control my effort- So of course part of effort is communication and I will do that if there is a delay - To best serve customers as efficiently as possible is important - less driving time also means more time that I can spend on the yard to ensure everything gets done right - Everyone cannot always get Friday as their designated day as an example but I will do everything possible to keep your choice of day- I must balance work days with specific ZIP Code coverage but if there is any situation that requires changing a day again I will make sure I communicate absolutely. My mowing work can begin as early as March or as late as November- I do not offer mowing service in the months of December, January and February- This is considered the winter months for our area. mowing grass that is frozen or frosted can cause extreme damage to the grass, weakening or killing it. Not only that, but grass grows very slowly in temperatures below forty degrees, so it can't heal from this damage. Mowing frozen grass should be avoided at all times. Surprisingly I have had clients request for me to mow in all three of those months - I set service hours typically from 7:30/8am till approximately 3pm- My weekends might be half days or completely filled up later than 3pm based on possible rain conditions from the prior weekdays Anything heavier than light rain or saturated conditions are typically days off- ( it’s a fact that excessive wet/ saturation conditions ends up in clumps, track marks and debris sticking on concrete surfaces - It would certainly be best to delay in the instance of unfavorable conditions.
What areas do you mainly service?
I service most residential properties in many areas including: Murfreesboro, Smyrna, Antioch, Nolensville, LaVergne, Franklin, Brentwood within a 15/20 mile radius- new jobs with access issues or excessive slope or excessive debris will unfortunately be declined .
