Mike Cebulski was just your normal 20 year old trying to figure out how he was going to pay for his college tuition. Picking up a part time job making minimum wage was not the route that this young entrepreneur wanted to take and time was not on his side. So armed with a mower, a hard-working mentality, and his mom's minivan, he set out to make some quick extra money mowing yards around his neighborhood.
Little did he know how big MJ Lawns was going to get.
Mike managed to graduate Webster University with a degree in business management while growing his customer base to several hundred homeowners and various commercial properties. Mike and his crew are now ranked as one the best lawn mowing companies in St. Louis.
The St. Louis native proudly calls St. Louis home and he now services all of St. Louis City and county areas.
Not only will Mike and his professional crew take care of your regular lawn maintenance, they will also do your retaining walls, patios, sprinkler turn on and off, fertilizing, pressure washing, gutter cleaning, low-level tree trimming, mulching, shrub and bush trimming, and sodding.
When asked how he has grown his business so fast he explained, "It was easy, we just listened to what our customers wanted. Cebulski goes on to explain, "We are also very prompt and have clear communication with all of our homeowners. Both of those are key to keep our customers coming back."
When Mike is not running his lawn empire, you can find him playing sports. He is an avid hockey and soccer player and loves keeping up with politics. This young history buff is also a huge St. Louis Blues fan and also enjoys spending time with his Boston Terrier/Bassett Hound mix pooch named Hershey.
Whether your lawn is needing a full on makeover or just a regular mow, edge, and blow, let the professionals at MJ Lawns get your yard back into shape.
How many years have you been in landscaping business, and what inspired you to get started?
I have been in the landscaping business for five years now. I got started by just picking up a few lawns here and there to pay for my college education. I never thought that I could grow a business and earn a degree all at the same time. I have been very blessed to have the opportunities I have had through the years.
How does your work stand out from other lawn service companies in the area?
My team and I take pride in what we do. We do have a quota to meet just as any other company does, but we talk to the customer before we get started. We listen to their needs and what they want out of a lawn company. I then take those needs that the customer has and then execute them. I have to give my team a lot of credit for where we are today, I would be no where without those guys. It takes a village to build a business, I am just a piece of the puzzle that makes this picture look perfect.
What advice do you have for a customer looking to hire a provider like you?
My advice for most customers is to sit down and ask yourself what it is you want out of your lawn care company. What you will get from our company is consistency. If we show up on Wednesday's then you can bet that you will see us every Wednesday. Obviously weather may have some say in this but other than that we show up when expected. We listen to your needs and then execute the plan. There is no guessing game with us. We show up and do great work. That is what we provide.
What do you like most about the lawn care industry?
I love being outdoors. I like walking the trails at state parks, hiking through national parks, and playing baseball. With the lawn care industry I can be outside and helping others. Some do not have time for their lawn and so are unable to handle it on their own. That is why we are here, to be a service to them. That is what I like most about the lawn care industry.
What areas do you mainly service?
We service all of Saint Louis city and county. Whether that it is in north county or south county. If there is work to be done we will get it done within the Saint Louis county limits.
