Hi Rafia- A retainer is company policy, for this specific platform. A retainer is not the total for the contract but the retainer is a percentage- you were never asked to pay $415.00, this is the standard definition of a retainer. I am sorry you feel as if you were tricked. That was not our intention, considering, attached to the $28 bid, we put that we are only taking recurring clients. A scam is when we have intent to take your money and cause some sort of inconvenience by not showing or doing a good job. We no longer will be using GreenPal. As explained, there have been multiple instances where our crew members, arrive, complete the lawn, and the homeowner, doesn't answer the door or respond to collection attempts. Please understand if you would have attempted to book outside of GreenPal or ask any further questions instead of cancelling, you would have been given the alternative which does not require a retainer. In this economic climate, we want to ensure that we not only have employees, but that they are paid. The retainer and recurring services that we have are optional and you do not need to book with our company. However, when our bid was placed, we did put information about recurring services only and the retainer. No money was collected, as you did not agree. We are not in the business of scamming honest, and hard working customers. Our retainer is simply to ensure we are able to collect payment. It was also disclosed to the client that if the service is not satisfactory, a refund could be given.
