This Pro's Story
When Nick Hurst was younger, he was the neighborhood kid that would push his mower around and knock on people's door to ask to mow their lawns. After 15 years working at a hospital in maintenance , he decided that he was tired of working 80 hours for someone else. After getting his blessing from his wife, who is a nurse, Nick officially started Pure Simple in 2014.
Nick grew up in Hendersonville, Tennessee, but currently lives in the Murfreesboro city limits on highway 231 by Christiana Middle School.
Hurst mows lawn in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, but likes to stay around the Christiana and Lascassas areas. He will also travel to Walter Hill and also cut grass in Smyrna, Tennessee.
Pure Simple services over 30 homeowners and also has a few commercial properties including Compton Road Church and a few storage units in the area.
Paying attention to detail, being courteous to people, and building friendships is what Nick attributes to his success. "I am very detail oriented and that shows in every job I do," Nick says. "I also love getting to know all of my customers and enjoying helping them with all of their landscaping needs. My goal is for the neighbors to be in awe of my work."
Hurst not only can handle your regular lawn mowing maintenance but will also do your mulching, shrub and bush trimming, leaf removal, low level tree trimming, and any rock work.
Since a he was young enough, he loved mowing and that love is what drew him back into the industry. "As far as I can remember, I have always loved being outside," Nick laughs. "I have always loved the smell of grass and the sheer act of mowing it. It is tranquil and brings me joy knowing that I get to wake up every morning and do that as my job."
His love for being outdoors not only results in his love for mowing but also for being an true outdoors man. He is an avid backpacker and enjoys hiking the Appalachian Trail. Nick was fortunate enough to win a trip to Mt Everest and visited base camp in Nepal.
Nick is married with 4 kids and just had his first granddaughter. He partners with his father-in-law and occasionally flips houses.
He loves taking the family to Cheddar's on Old Fort Parkway and BJ's on Medical Center Parkway.
Hurst is also a trained welder and worked for Nashville Elevator Company for several years.
