In 2018, the population of Flint was actually shown to decrease to 95,943 by the end of 2018. The city was once a major powerhouse for the automotive industry along with other cities like Detroit.
Major car companies like GM and Chevrolet produced much of the city’s jobs. However, over the years, Flint has had its share of crisis. Much of which eventually sank the city into deep recessions and depressions. Though it faced hardships, the city has received several investments for more opportunities and economic growth. The 34 square miles of land is home to various places and neighborhoods. Many preserved homes from the Victorian era still stand tall and the well-known Atwood Stadium is still used to this day. The once towering Genesee Towers was considered the city’s tallest buildings until it was demolished and replaced in 2013. Crowds of people are often drawn to many areas around Flint including the Flint Public Library, Longway Planetarium, Sloan Museum, and many other attractions in Flint.
